The Commons is an intimate, modern venue in the heart of Evansville with indoor and outdoor space perfect for hosting for events of all kinds.
We host public events, including live music, artist showcases, workshops, classes, and curated social experiences as well as private rentals for weddings, corporate events, and milestone celebrations.
With our flexible indoor space, large outdoor patio, full bar, and a rotating monthly calendar of unique events, The Commons is a place where people come together.
Our programming highlights local artists and musicians, and offers curated social experiences that are intentional, inclusive, and just plain fun.
We’ve created a place where people meet, connect, and celebrate — whether that’s for a casual happy hour, an intimate performance, or a once-in-a-lifetime event.
The Staff
Owner
Japhia Burrell
Japhia opened the venue in the fall of 2022 as Main Street Wedding and Event Venue. However, her passion for live music, support for the arts, and frustration with the lack of entertainment and events in the Evansville area led her to the decision to rebrand the venue and recreate it as The Commons. She is a board member of the Jacobsville Fine Arts Association and her goal is for The Commons to be a vehicle that cultivates interest and support for music and art in the Jacobsville neighborhood. She is also a registered nurse and licensed massage therapist. She owns another local business, Bella Terra Organic Spa, on Evansville's Northeast side and continues to work there as a massage therapist and health consultant.
Bartender & Event Coordinator
Kiera Allen
Kiera is the house bartender and event coordinator, bringing a strong background in craft cocktails and a passion for creating elevated, memorable experiences.
In addition to her work behind the bar, Kiera is a multi-business owner. She is the founder of Kie Events, an elevated charcuterie and gifting company, and the artist behind Makeup by Kie, a traveling makeup business specializing in bridal and event beauty. Whether mixing drinks or enhancing celebrations, Kiera brings style, intention, and a personal touch to everything she does. Cheers! 🥂
